My goal as an artist is to express the innocence and diversity, I observe in our Wildlife in its natural habitat throughout our home area here in Ontario Canada. My inspiration comes from the most southern tip of this province along the shores of Lake Erie adventuring up to the northern lakes in Algonquin/Highlands. Using oils on canvas, painting in stylized realism my paintings are divided into 2 signature series. An Algonquin Wildlife Series and an Avian Migration Series. My Algonquin Wildlife Series encompasses massive majestic animals of Algonquin Park including, Moose, Bear, Loons, etc. Painting them on large canvases that range up to 48” x 60” to depict their prominence and stature. My Avian Migration Series are works showing the smaller world of birds who migrate through our south-western Ontario area twice a year, Spring and Fall. Included in this series may be a tiny warbler or kinglet showing they just landed to find refuge in our area. It amazes me how many of these species we observe in both areas of my art studies. These paintings range from 6”x6” for these tiny birds and go up to 36”x48” to depict the size of some of our larger migratory birds such as eagles, hawks and owls in their nests representing my true reflections. My hope is that the colours, depth & textures used in these paintings will bring enjoyment and raise a passion to engage in the conversation to protect their dwindling natural environment.
